Landscape Design Projects
TORVER VISITOR CENTRE & ENVIRONS
Designing within the highly protected Lake District National Park holds many challenges to both the designer and to the landscape. The aim of this project is to design a new visitor centre to engage people with their outdoor environment in a manner beneficial to both. The design of the centre and surrounding area has been approached in a manner sympathetic to the conservation and enhancement of this heritage landscape.
DESIGNING FOR PEOPLE AND NATURE
Located at the top of an exposed South Pennine moorland escarpment, at approx 450m above sea level, lies the old sandstone quarries of Nab Hill. The design intervention proposes to build a visitor attraction within this quarry that does more than just beautify an otherwise abused and abandoned landscape – it aims to positively influence how people encounter, interpret and make sense of this wild and ecologically sensitive area.
