Resumé

A creative Graphic Designer with over 20 years experience in web and print design, management and production,  generating strong and effective visuals for the commercial workplace. My enthusiasm for design is carried across into a long held passion for garden design and landscape architecture.

This Landscape Institute accredited Masters Degree course combines design with a concern for our environment to improve the quality of people’s lives.

COURSE CONTENT:
A programme of creative design-based modules are studied delivering landscape projects that build upon previous design skills and experience. All modules are conducted within a broad social and environmental context and include research, analysis, design development and solutions for both urban and rural landscapes. Studies culminate with a Major Design Project that provides a opportunity to showcase skills by undertaking a comprehensive landscape architecture challenge from project inception to a resolved design.
Areas of personal interest include creative rural landscape interventions and designs to improve public health and well-being.

Employment History

 

  • Website Designer & Development Manager. HBOS plc.
    7 years  (Mar 2002 – Dec 2009)

Working within both the E-commerce and E-marketing departments this role provided central governance and design development for over ten major retail websites for the HBOS Group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
To establish, enhance and maintain consistent corporate identify and brand message across all retail websites.
To expand the capabilities and performance of each site whilst ensuring consistent, effective and quality project delivery.
To significantly reduce business overheads for the production, ongoing support and improvements to website development.
To establish a best practice project framework to all businesses for the delivery of content managed website and to build a team of specialists to deliver an on-going programme of website redesigns.​

 

  • Graphic Designer & New Media Developer. Halifax plc.
    13 years  (Sept 1989 – Mar 2002​)

Creative lead and senior designer as part of a busy in-house graphic design team providing a complete design service delivering all of the groups graphic design and new media production needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Graphic Design: To design and deliver a complete range of printed and online material ensuring corporate identity control, quality control and cost effective print production.
New Media Developer: To ensure all business application interfaces and customer facing communications were innovative and intuitive, with a professional, consistent look and feel whilst maintaining conformance to the groups range of brands and usability standards.

​Working as a graphic designer in the creative studio forming part of a successful South Manchester based advertising agency.

Personal

 

I run a small holding of around 8 acres breeding rare breed sheep and chickens and own two horses.
In my spare time I enjoy fell running, mountaineering and equestrian sport and to relax I garden, design and draw.
